ThreadWell is a daily home-school communication log built by Bridgewell Studio, a trade name of EXV Consulting LLC ("Bridgewell," "we," "us"). Schools use ThreadWell to let teachers, aides, and related-service providers share a student's day with that student's parents or guardians. This policy explains what information ThreadWell collects, how it's used, and who it's shared with.
This policy is a draft pending legal review and is not yet published for public reliance.
ThreadWell has two kinds of accounts, both created by a school — there is no public sign-up:
Students themselves do not use ThreadWell — it is a tool for the adults around a student to communicate, not a service directed at or used by children.
About a student, entered by school staff as part of the daily log:
About a staff account: name, role, and the email address used to sign in.
About a parent account: name, email address, phone number (used only to send a short text notification when a new daily log entry is ready — never the entry content itself), and which student(s) they're linked to.
Standard technical logs. Like most hosted web applications, our hosting and infrastructure providers (see below) automatically log things like IP address and request timestamps for security and reliability purposes. We don't use this for tracking or advertising.
We do not use student, staff, or parent information for advertising, and we do not sell it.
SMS notifications are opt-in. Your child's school will ask you to complete a consent form; we send text messages only to parents and guardians who have returned that form saying yes. If you opt in, you may receive up to one SMS message per day, per student — a short notification that a new daily log entry is ready to read, never the entry content itself. Message and data rates may apply. We do not share your mobile phone number with any third party for marketing or promotional purposes; it is used solely to deliver this notification through our messaging provider (Twilio), listed below. Reply STOP at any time to opt out of SMS notifications, or contact your child's school to update your contact preferences.
We share information with the following service providers ("subprocessors"), each of whom processes it only to provide their specific service to us — none of them are permitted to use it for their own purposes:
We don't share student information with any other third party except: at the direction of the school, or where required by law (for example, in response to a valid legal request).
For students covered by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), Bridgewell acts as a school official with a legitimate educational interest, under the direction and control of the school, and uses student information solely to provide ThreadWell to that school — not for any independent purpose. The school remains the official custodian of the student's education records.
If you're a parent or guardian and want to access, correct, or ask questions about your child's records, please contact your child's school directly — they are in the best position to help, and FERPA gives you those rights against the school as the record holder.
We retain daily log entries and messages for as long as a school's account with us is active, so the log stays available as a continuous record. A staff member can edit or delete an entry they authored on the same day it was created. Beyond that, deletion of a student's data — for example when a student leaves a school, or at a school's request — is currently handled directly with Bridgewell rather than through a self-service tool in the app; contact us and we'll take care of it.
Every account's access to student data is enforced at the database level (row-level security), scoped to the specific students that staff member is assigned to or that parent is linked to — not just hidden in the app's interface. Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest. A more detailed security overview is available on request.
ThreadWell is not directed at children, and children do not create accounts or interact with ThreadWell directly — all information about a student is entered by school staff as part of the educational services the school provides.
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the effective date above and, where required, notify the schools we work with directly.
Questions about this policy or a request related to your data can be sent to privacy@bridgewellstudio.com.
